Increasing in popularity due to the multitude of studies and research

that has proven its benefits to mental and physical health, meditation is

a practice that can be self-taught with no financial cost and is easy to

apply to life. Meditation can be easy to implement with free videos online or use of an app such as Insight Timer (https://insighttimer.com/, which provides a multitude of short guided meditations to help you get started.

Here is a meditation script you can try on your next walk:

• Be in the moment. What do you see? Look all around.

• Look above. What do you see? The clouds or trees? Is it bright?

Which colors do you see?

• Pick something and look at the details. Are the clouds different

shades? What texture do you see on tree branches or the ground?

• Take a breath. What do you smell? Describe the scents.

• Are there any insects or interesting flowers?

• Can you close your eyes and just listen? Take notice of any birds

or the sound of the wind.

• What does your body feel? Take notice of the temperature.

• Can you pick up a leaf, rock or twig and just notice the weight.

What is the texture? If you feel comfortable, smell it. What do

you notice?

• When ready, take a deep breath and close out the meditation.
